چکیده

Copper electrodeposition on Au(111) from deep eutectic solvents (DESs) type III was investigated employing cyclic voltammetry as well chronoamperometry. It further examined Au(poly) using the electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM). The employed DESs are mixtures of choline chloride (ChCl) or nitrate (ChNO3) with ethylene glycol (EG) hydrogen bond donor (HBD), each in a molar ratio 1 : 2. CuCl, CuCl2, Cu(NO3)2 ? 3H2O were added copper sources. Underpotential deposition (UPD) Cu precedes bulk electrolytes. Cu+ media is observed one-electron reaction, whereas Cu2+ occurs two steps since strongly stabilized by chloride. less and beginning nitrate-containing DES shifted several hundred mV to more positive potentials compared DES. A diffusion-controlled, three-dimensional nucleation growth mechanism found chronoamperometric measurements analysis based model Scharifker Mostany.

anions. In the case of chloride and chloride and nitrate baths, it may be observed that only 40-60% of deposited copper is oxidized in the reverse potential sweep; these low charge recoveries are due to an disproportionation stage: the newly deposited copper reacts with the Cu~II! present in the reaction layer to form Cu~I!. For baths containing only nitrates, the efficacy of charge recovery is...

Copper Electrodeposition from a Water-Containing Choline Chloride Based Deep Eutectic Solvent

This study investigated the effect of water on the physical and electrochemical properties of a choline chloride deep eutectic solvent (DES). Physical and electrochemical measurements were performed on the DES containing varying amounts of water. When the water content was increased from 1% to 15 wt%, the viscosity and density declined while the conductivity increased significantly. Similarly, ...

Electrodeposition of Zn, Cu, and Zn-Cu Alloys from Deep Eutectic Solvents

Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) comprising choline chloride (ChCl) with either urea or ethylene glycol (EG) have been successfully used as powerful and potential electrolytes for extracting metals from their corresponding metal oxide precursors. In this work, for electrodeposition of Zn and Zn-Cu alloys, ChCl/urea-based DES was employed. Cyclic voltammetry study demonstrates that the reduction of...

Tin, Bismuth, and Tin–Bismuth Alloy Electrodeposition from Chlorometalate Salts in Deep Eutectic Solvents

The electrodeposition of tin, bismuth, and tin-bismuth alloys from SnII and BiIII chlorometalate salts in the choline chloride/ethylene glycol (1:2 molar ratio) deep eutectic solvent was studied on glassy carbon and gold by cyclic voltammetry, rotating disc voltammetry, and chronoamperometry. The SnII-containing electrolyte showed one voltammetric redox process corresponding to SnII/Sn0. The di...
